Bill Jackson: Winner of 'Best Model at the Show', deservedly, went to Bill Jackson's superbly-built Alexander PS-bodied Scania K92 (Lowland Models), in the livery of his 'Ash Bank Coaches' fleet. His painstaking attention to detail typifies his approach to kit building. Photo by Ron Rushton Karl Kingston, 'Nesfield Motors': The theme of their fleet is Bedford Coaches; a marque that has now largely vanished from the scene, as yet another manufacturer has passed into history. (The layout was featured in MBJ366, October 2001.) Photo by Ron Rushton
David Penlington, 'Viking': What might have been? David Penlington's 'Viking' fleet is based on a real operator who sold out to Stevenson's of Uttoxeter, in the 'eighties, but his models depict what they might have looked like if they had continued. Photo by Ron Rushton David Penlington, 'Viking': The wheel turned full circle when subsequent owners Arriva sold all their coaches, and Viking Tours continue to this day in a dark blue livery, under new owners. Jon Fitness, 'Worktown': The layout features Jon's Bolton Corporation models, some in the early 'sixties livery, which gave way to the later version with more cream. Photo by Ron Rushton Jon Fitness, 'Worktown': This livery continued until the fleet was absorbed into SELNEC PTE, in 1969, who brightened them up even more by painting them in 'sunglow' orange and white. Photo by Ron Rushton Jon Fitness, 'Worktown': Jon's latest Bolton Transport Daimler CVG6/Orion, No.98 (KWH578) was in service at the Crewe Extravaganza. The model is motorised and fitted with Bolton's Bits (Jon Fitness) window vents and computer-produced fleetnames, adverts and destination blinds, which featured in the Product News, this month. The 25th Model Bus Extravaganza took place at Crewe Library on Saturday, 15th February, 2003, and looks to have been another great show. For a quarter of a century, now, the Chesh-Potts of Crewe have been at it, and they look good for another 25 years, too!

It always pleases me when I get lots of photos, for the Journal, of model buses on dioramas but, also, it amazes me that they manage to get so many, into the Crewe 'Tardis'! Ron Rushton took the photos and David Eadie provided the details to describe the photos.
