Arfon Owen: Arfon's latest layout features a roadside cafe frequented by passing coaches. Photo by Ron Rushton Arfon Owen: The lettering on the coaches ranges from computer generated characters to freehand designs using brushes and paint, and are a tribute to his steady hand, giving him the freedom to make models of a wide variety of fleets which visit his native Wales. Photo by Ron Rushton Ken Johnson, 'Kenborough': This layout was highly-commended by the judges in the Best Layout competition. Photo by Ron Rushton
Ken Johnson, 'Kenborough': The model of the Foresters Arms was scratchbuilt, and is based on an actual pub, whilst vehicles from neighbouring East Midlands fleets all meet at this spot. Robin Hannay: Robin's West Country 'kaleidoscope' features a rich variety of operators and vehicles, converging on the 'National Omnibus Company' depot (somewhere between Crewe and Cheltenham, no doubt). Photo by Ron Rushton Robin Hannay: With 'global warming' to contend with, nowadays, it is always windy enough to take the roof off any bus depot, but the removable roof is an interesting feature, which I have seen used to good advantage, on several layouts, especially with Bolton's Bits workshop furniture in use, on the shop floor, below - or maybe it did blow off! Photo by Ron Rushton Ray Turley, Hong Kong Bus Station: An oriental scene, depicting Ray's Hong Kong bus station, also offers a rich variety of colours and liveries, and is becoming well-known at many venues between Glasgow and Whitton (nr. Twickenham, London). Photo by Ron Rushton

The 25th Model Bus Extravaganza took place at Crewe Library on Saturday, 15th February, 2003, and looks to have been another great show. For a quarter of a century, now, the Chesh-Potts of Crewe have been at it, and they look good for another 25 years, too!

It always pleases me when I get lots of photos, for the Journal, of model buses on dioramas but, also, it amazes me that they manage to get so many, into the Crewe 'Tardis'! Ron Rushton took the photos and David Eadie provided the details to describe the photos.
