East Lancs Millennium (PSG Models) East Lancs Millennium (PSG Models) Three small Bedfords - (from the left) a Bedford CF (Paragon Road Services), a WLB (Pirate Models), and a WHB (John Day Vehicle Scenics) Plaxton Paragon (Lancer Models)
The Swan Inn at Holt: A pair of Ford Transits (ABS Streetscene, left, and a modification of the Model Bus Company van) on one of Dick's many layouts - Photo by Bob Heathcote Northern Counties-bodied Dennis Dart (Lancer Models): East Dorset's NC-bodied Dennis Dart is, virtually, a straight build of the Lancer resin kit. Leyland Titans (Anbrico, left, and Exclusive First Editions): The model on the left was built, many years ago, from the Anbrico kit, and the other is a simple repaint of the EFE model. Leyland National Greenway (CJT Models): Although the kit won the Model Buses magazine Best Kit of the Year award, I wasn't that impressed with it. It arrived with seat backs broken and quite a badly-warped body. The side windows have to be glazed individually from the outside and the pre-printed glazing material supplied with my kit was terribly thin and poorly printed. That said, the bus is still earning its keep in rural Dorset!
Ford R192/Strachans (Paragon Road Services): A straight 'no-problems' build from the Paragon resin kit. Wright-bodied Dennis Dart (Mark Hughes Models - resin): This Mark Hughes Models kit features a resin bodyshell and whitemetal chassis/seating unit. The one-piece bodyshell must rate as one of the best yet; the interior, in true Mark Hughes-style, is to the highest quality, if a little fiddly. The real versions of these are appearing on the 'used' market, so now is the time to snap one up! Willowbrook Expressway (Paragon Road Services): A 10m Willowbrook 002, built from another good-quality resin kit of a lightweight prototype, from Paragon. AEC 'Railway' bus (Langley Models - whitemetal) - 'East Dorset's First Bus': According to legend, this was East Dorset's first motorbus, a 'no-(great)-problems' build from the Langley whitemetal kit. As a matter of interest, Langley have since produced a totally fictitious steam bus, using an adapted version of the body casting on one of their steam lorry chassis'.

The Model Buses of Dick Lindsay (1/3)

Dick has been a member of the Model Bus Federation for almost as long as it has been in existence, and has been a prolific builder of model buses in that time. He has been a regular contributor to the Journal and the two-tone blue of his East Dorset Transport and the coaching subsidiary, Bluebird, has graced the pages of many.

Most of the models in this gallery have been the subjects of reviews, and I look forward to receiving many more, from Dick, in the future. I put a high value, and a high priority, on reviews, as many members look to them to decide whether or not to part with their hard-earned cash! - Ed.
