| Adam Floyd: These are an interesting 'find', which, as found, are rather basic and crude model cars. They are made by Kentoys and come in a set of 4 on a rather more-detailed and acceptable transporter (except that, unfortunately, its scale does not match the cars, and is larger than 4mm scale, anyway!), and all for less than a fiver. I wouldn't like to guess at the prototypes, but they are mostly 'chunky' American-style vehicles (as popularised by 'young mums' on the school run - you know, 4WD, cow-bars, etc), and I understand that there are at least 20 different types to be collected, including the VW New Beetle. Adam has spotted that the scale of the cars is close to 4mm, and that careful cleaning-up and detail-painting of the crude raw materials can produce most acceptable additions to his private hire fleets, and I was most impressed. The 'pick-up' truck, in the centre, makes a nice depot 'run-about', especially with a couple of bus tyres, in the back! |
