London Area MCW Metropolitan MD34 (die-cast metal model bus)

The London Area of the Model Bus Federation is pleased to announce the release of the Metro-Cammell- Weymann 'Metropolitan' double decker, a type that first appeared on British streets in 1974. This all-new casting has been produced, in China, by the Britbus Company and is to a scale of 1:76, and features include:
  • One-piece body casting.
  • No ugly poles through the model to hold it together.
  • Poseable Front wheels.
  • Etched-brass bodyside grilles.
  • Front destination set behind 'glass'.
  • Opening engine cover and detailed engine.
  • Detailed chassis components.
  • Separately fitted headlights, front trafficators, windscreen wipers and rear light clusters.
  • Detailed interior with seats, floors, draft screens, seat back hand rails and cab detail picked out in different colours.
  • Detailed exterior printing.
The first release of this model is London Transport MD34 (KJD234P), which entered service on route 36B (Grove Park-Paddington) after having been displayed at an LT event at Syon Park. The bus carried special adverts for this event and retained them for a few weeks after entering passenger service, from Peckham garage, and the model is depicted in this condition.

The model has been chosen as a tribute to the memory of MBF members, the late Peter and Leah Burrows, whose generosity made it possible to produce this model.

This model has been commissioned by the London Area of the Model Bus Federation and will only be available to members, via the MBF Shop. Future releases of this casting will be available to all collectors, from the usual retail outlets.

David Rowe, Area Secretary (MBF London Area)

As announced recently the new London Area model bus will be available at the Whitton Event, on March 8th, 2003. Members who cannot attend this event are advised to contact Chris Pearson, at the MBF Shop, as soon as possible ( address on your Sales Sheet), to reserve your model. - Ed.
