This
eagerly awaited book will follow in the footsteps of Parts One and Two,
published in 2001 and 2003, which took the story from 1912 to 1970, i.e.
from the foundation of the Company to the start of the National Bus
Company era. This third and final volume, to be published in late 2008
or early 2009 by the United Enthusiasts Club and dealing with the years
1971 to the demise of the UNITED fleetname in 1998, will complete the
story by dealing with the NBC era in full, with Deregulation and
Privatisation, and the absorption into the Arriva operation.
The book
has been authored by Mark Harrington and John Banks with much assistance
from acknowledged experts in United history and will be sparklingly
illustrated - as much as possible in colour; black and white will be
used only where a subject cannot be located as a colour image.
The
book will be a glossy A4 hardback with colour illustrations and will
match the standard and quality of the first two volumes. Costs have
increased substantially since the earlier books, and a cover price for
this third volume has had to be set at £32.95.
However, if advance
order and payment are made by 31st July 2008, the pre-launch price will
be £30 POST FREE. Once launched, the book's cost will be £32.95 plus
approximately £5 - £6 postage and packaging. Interested subscribers are
invited to complete the form below and send it with their payment to Mr
Robert Buckley, Treasurer of the United Enthusiasts Club, 23 Briarvale
Avenue, Linthorpe, Middlesbrough TS5 7RP. In the event of insufficient
subscriptions being received and publication being unable to go ahead,
all moneys will be returned in full.
